New York Car Rentals and Jacques Torres Chocolate
Jacques Torres has chosen Brooklyn as one of the locations for his chocolate factory (the other is at Hudson Square in Manhattan). Jacques Torres specializes in fresh, hand-crafted chocolates that don't use preservatives or artificial flavors. Stop by for a delicious visit with your New York car rental. The location in Brooklyn was the first factory Jacques opened. Not only that, but he designed and built it himself! Here he has developed new ideas and set new standards for sanitation in a food processing factory that has also improved him success. You can see inside the factory through large glass windows from inside the store and from the street with your New York car rental.
Where did this idea come from? Jacques grew up in Bandol, France. This is a small town in the southern region of Provence. At 15, he decided he was interested in baking and thought he would give it a try. A couple years later, he finished his apprenticeship and graduated first in his class. In 1988, he was asked by the Ritz Carlton Hotel Company to be the Corporate Pastry Chef, and he launched the opening of the new hotel in Palm Springs. He was asked a year later to join one of New York's most famous restaurants, Le Cirque. Over the years, Jacques has served kings, celebrities, and presidents many times and has won many awards. His venture into chocolate was a natural step for this chef who specializes in tempting your sweet tooth.
The feeling inside Jacque Torres' Chocolate factory is like stepping into another world from your New York car rental. You will almost feel as though you have left the United States and entered a small town in Europe, almost like the movie Chocolat. Inside you will find a sweet-lovers paradise with hand-made treats everywhere you look. Trust me, this is not for the faint of heart! Small cafe tables encourage you to get a cup of hot chocolate (made from real, fresh chocolate) and sit down for a bit with a bite of pain au chocolat.
Special Occasions
Jacques has the answer for what you are looking for when you have a special occasion coming up. There are a number of decorative boxes of chocolate you can pick up before you leave in your New York car rental. One of the most popular is the "Ultimate Chocolate Lover", a package of 12 hand-picked chocolates featuring old favorites and new creations. A lot of times you can also find special chocolates that are not available on the website, making your trip a little extra special.
Directions
From the Manhattan Bridge: Take the first exit from bridge toward BQE in your New York car rental. Get in left lane. Turn left at stop light onto service road of Sands Avenue, then follow it to York and turn left. At end of York, turn right onto Front Street. Turn left at the next block onto Main Street. Turn left onto Water Street.
From Brooklyn Bridge: Take first exit off the bridge toward Cadman Plaza/BQE with your New York car rental. The exit has a right and left lane. Be in the right lane of the exit. That will put you on Cadman Plaza going in the right direction. Follow Cadman Plaza/Old Fulton through 2 stop lights. After the second stop light, turn right onto Front Street. Go 2 blocks and turn left onto Main Street. One block later, turn left onto Water Street.
