Car Rentals NYC and The Rockaway Peninsula
Imagine yourself spending the day frolicking along the beach of a beautiful town and enjoying the sunlight on your face. You can feel the warm sand between your toes and all seems right with the world. It's a perfect day to get a suntan, but make sure you wear your sunscreen! After throwing the football around you get extremely hot and feel like you need a dip in the water. You put your toes in the water, not exactly sure what to expect. Ahhhh, refreshing. What a great way to cool down after an intense game. Do you want to have this experience? Do you want to enjoy a lovely summer day on a gorgeous beach with energizing water? Maybe you just want to see the sites around New York for a day on your upcoming NYC car rental trip. You can do all of this and more at the Rockaway Peninsula in beautiful New York. The Rockaway Peninsula is also called "The Rockaways" and can be found in Queens, NYC. The Rockaways have been a very popular summer resort for visitors and local residents alike since the 1830s. Part of its popularity is due to the fact that it is so remote from Manhattan and can truly be thought of as a getaway district. What a great way to spend a quality day or two on your next NYC car rental vacation.
Faster than the Speed of Light
With so many attractions and places to visit around the area, the Rockaway Peninsula has become a large tourist attraction that everyone wants to visit. One of the most prominent attractions in the area was Rockaways' Playland. This amusement park was opened in 1901, but unfortunately it was shut down in 1986. Two of the parks biggest rollercoasters were the "Atom Smasher" and the "Cinerama Coaster", which was about 3000 feet long and 70 feet high. There was also the ever popular "Fun House". Much to everyone's disappointment the park shut down, but many areas have been working to create some of the magic that came with Rockaways' Playland. Another historic place to visit on your NYC car rental trip to the Rockaway Peninsula is the Long Island Rail Road. This railroad came about in 1834 and is still running today. It is the busiest commuter railroad the United States has ever had and it is also the oldest running railroad to still function under the original name it was given. Come check out a part of history and maybe discover a few ancient facts at the railroad on your NYC car rental vacation.
Watch a Sensational Sunset
The Rockaway Peninsula has some of the world's most beautiful and most popular beaches. At Jacob Riis Park, NYC car rental customers can enjoy sunbathing in the hot afternoon sun. This part of the Atlantic Ocean can be found on one of many barrier reefs that identify New York City's wet boundary. At Jacob Riis Park, you will find all kinds of people out to enjoy the lovely weather. Another great beach to visit is Jones Beach. Facing the Atlantic Ocean, this beach is 6.5 miles long and is one of the most popular summer retreats in all of New York City. The Rockaway Beach is another excellent beach to vacation on. If you just want to catch some rays or have a picnic with your family, this is the place to go. Why not enjoy a romantic evening by the water and watch the sun go down and the stars appear? There are also many other things to see and do at the Rockaway Peninsula that will provide a fun and relaxing time for everyone.
